Friday Open Platform: Steve Cobbin

Friday Open Platform allows local makers and artists the opportunity to take over the Art Bank stage, commission-free. Please come and support these independent businesses and artisans! Email info@artbank.org.uk if you are interested in having a free stall to sell and promote your work.

This week artist Steve Cobbin will be showcasing his wonderful artwork inspired by the local area and its stunning natural beauty.  Steve is a retired science/ special needs ( ASD ) teacher who lives in Evercreech.  A lover of all things “outdoorsy”.. (walking, cycling, bird watching, caving, climbing), Steve has been painting and drawing since his “youth” but didn’t do much while teaching full time.. then he was ill and this forced a life change (silver lining) so he started up again.

He’s had many exhibitions.. Dartmoor, Exeter, Glastonbury, Tiverton, Swanage, Shepton, Ilminster… and more.
His work is mostly landscapes and some wildlife. ..also book illustrations. He works with pencil, ink, watercolour and acrylics and uses vivid colour/ contrast to convey his feelings for a place ( usually awe!) as well as visual accuracy.
“Works filled with the deep connection that can only come from wandering through the landscapes that inspire him.”
