‘Rivers of England are a Bath-based alt folk-rock band fronted by Rob Spalding. Though rooted in folk due to an extensive use of acoustic string instruments, the band has made forays into jazz, blues, prog & rock.
The band have received critical acclaim for their album ‘Astrophysics saved my life’ and achieved national radio play in Germany with sell-out gigs including a beach and a planetarium.
It has been suggested that Rivers of England’s music fits somewhere between that of Alasdair Roberts and John Martyn. Although rooted in folk, their music is suggestive of a band with an altogether much broader and original take on the genre.
